The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, show which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific host company for your domain name is the most effective way to direct it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so forth, if you want to edit some of these records, you are going to be able to do it through their system. Put simply, the NS records of a domain name reveal the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to obtain the DNS records of the domain name you are attempting to access. That way the web site you will see is going to be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain address has at least 2 NS records. There is no practical difference between the two prefixes, so what type a hosting provider will use depends solely on their preference.

NS Records in Shared Hosting

In case you register a domain name inside a shared hosting account from our company, you're going to be able to control its name servers easily. This is accomplished using the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia website hosting CP and with only a few mouse clicks you are going to be able to update the NS records of one or even numerous domain names at once, which can save you a lot of time and efforts in case you have a huge number of domain addresses that you would like to direct to a different service provider. You can enter multiple name servers depending on how many the other provider gives you. In addition we permit you to set up private name servers for every Internet domain registered with our company and in contrast to many other companies we don't charge anything more for this service. The new NS records can be used to point any other domain name to the hosting platform of the provider whose IPs you have used during the process, so when you use our IPs for instance, all domain names added to the account on our end can use these name servers.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The name servers for any domain address that is registered through our company can be changed with no more than a few mouse clicks through the sophisticated, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia CP that is included with all semi-dedicated server plans. It is just as easy to view the current NS records for a given domain address and to determine if they're the ones that are necessary for the domain name to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to permit you to manage any domain effortlessly even if you have not dealt with such matters before. If you'd like, you can even register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not only for the domain under which they are set up, but also for any other domain that you'd like to host inside the same account. This option is very useful when you have clients of your own and you want their web sites to use your own name servers in lieu of our default ones. The service is available totally free.
