Transferring an already registered domain name involves changing the domain registrar that provides the domain registration service, so after the transfer itself, you will have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS resource record updates through the new company. The transfer procedure itself is standard with most Top-Level Domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain name involves several necessary procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain. The domain lock is a safety option, which is being adopted by more and more registry operators. It is a standard feature supported by all generic top-level domain names. If a domain name is locked, it will be impossible to initiate a transfer process, so no one can even attempt to snatch your domain name. The lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain is registered in the first place and all new domain names that support this option are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Shared Hosting

With a shared hosting plan from us, you will exercise absolute authority over your domain names through our custom-created Hepsia Control Panel. You will be able to do anything you would like, including locking & unlocking any of the domains registered through us, on the condition that the specific TLD extension supports this feature. Clicking on the padlock logo that you’ll find next to any domain name registered in your Hepsia Control Panel will show you its current status and clicking it once more will enable you to modify that status. If you’d like to transfer a domain name to another registrar, you can initiate the procedure immediately. Since unlocking a domain name through your Hepsia Control Panel will take effect instantaneously, no propagation period or any action on our end will be needed. Locking a domain name is just as easy – you’ll just have to complete the exact same steps.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you want to transfer a domain name from our company to another registrar company and you have a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to get the domain name ready with only a couple of clicks. All your domain names will be displayed in a separate section of the Hepsia Control Panel – the same tool via which you will manage your web hosting account. If a specific gTLD or ccTLD supports the registrar lock option, you’ll see a padlock icon. You can find out whether the domain is locked or not by clicking on that icon once and you can modify the status by clicking for a second time. This is all it takes and there will be nothing else that you or we will have to do, so you can proceed with the domain transfer process straight away. The update will propagate immediately, so you will not have to wait for the status to change on WHOIS lookup websites.
